It’s just about that time of year again: time for the Winter Camping Symposium. This year’s event is shaping up to be just as awesome as previous years.
For one, Dave and Amy Freeman will be the keynote on Friday night. They’re about to finish up an entire year in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. They’re also going to be leading seminars on hot tent stove baking, crafting camp coffee and “gear for a year.”
We’re also looking forward to the winter saw discussion demo, Four Dog Stoves’ talk about the art and physics of portable wood stoves, and, of course, the gear swap. We can tell you from experience that the antler-handled knife class is great, as is fire skills (always packed), winter hot tenting 101, and the ever-popular tent tour.
Find the whole schedule on the WCS website. If you’ve never been, the WCS is a great opportunity to learn about winter camping, meet new friends (including the almost the entire MNAdventure team) and enjoy a good time.
