Cuyuna mtn. bike trails get $600k in funding

Woohoo! The trails at Cuyuna Country State Rec Area are poised to expand. The state just designated $600,000 to the trails. Way to go to the Cuyuna Lakes Mountain Bike Crew and local legislators for helping to make this happen!

Cuyuna’s getting to be known as one of the best mountain biking areas in the state- maybe the country- and the funding will help with the area’s master vision, which includes trail expansion and a system that’s 100 percent one-way. The expansion the Crew is looking for would create three days of riding without repeating any of the trails.

That area just keeps getting better. A new privately owned campground, True North, with camper cabins is opening up this summer. Last word was that they’ll cost around $140 a night. True North will be bike-in, bike-out, and it will be within walking distance of town. The DNR also just opened a few Yurts in the area, and has a campground in the park.
